OBJECTIVE

“To provide education and care to the children in the red-light area during the peak hours of sex-trade and keep them away from any wrong influences.”

RATIONALE

More than 80% of women in red-light areas are illiterate, making it difficult to support their children’s education. This often leads to poor academic performance, school dropouts, and limited opportunities—perpetuating the cycle of poverty and exploitation.

How does the DLC help?

Provides children with essential educational materials and evening snacks.

Offers a safe, caring environment during their mothers’ peak working hours, protecting them from harmful influences.

Supports better academic performance while reducing school failures and dropouts.

HISTORY

Deepika Life Center started in July 2003. We have been operating in the space provided by the community.

WHAT WE DO

The Deepika Life Center is an educational project providing support, care and security to children in the heart of the red-light area during peak business hours of the sex trade. The Deepika Life Center has helped hundreds of children gain self-confidence and improve their academic performance, thus reducing the number of failures and school drop-outs. Some of our children have graduated and are now employed.

The DLC functions Monday through Friday and provides the children with:
